I bought a duo sonic neck on ebay. All the lacquer was completely sanded off, expect on the butt (showing the stamp). It look like it had a small twist/warp to it. So I got i dirt cheep. But it turned out that only one side of the heel was shorter than the other. Thanks to http://guitargarage.blogspot.se for that one!! Using a shim for that and you got a 100% working neck
The body is a jaguar style Alder body that I built in 1996. It had 2 humbuckers and a Gibson style bridge. So I'm converting it to standard Jaguar specks. I will leave a some what nasty swimming pool route (mor on that later).
Paint strip
Routing and plugging thr bridge section so it holds the new the bridge holes
I needed to take 4mm off the top to get the correct thickness.
Now, the reason for this nasty swimming pool route is this. I had build a jig that guided my router to make a nice rout in the middle of a guitar. But I need to convert the jig so I could use that it to take 4mm of the entire surface the body. And I was then to eager to get this project running I decided to leave the nasty route. It will be covered with copper shielding once the buffing is complete.
Plugging the old neck holes
Routing for the tremelo and top switches
Checking fitting and alignment
Carving out the body curves
Love working with wood!
Graing filing
Wood grain sealer and white sealer
Base coat
Neck work. Thinned lacquer
Wet sanding
More wet sanding, up to 2000grit
Buffing, by hand...
Decals. Got a bunch of really bad decals, full of pixels and incorrect size. Bad "Fender" logo etc.
The neck is a real vintage Fender neck. Not the Due Sonic I talked in the beginning, but a Musicmaster. It was painted and then sanded down. The heal is OK, so I guess it could be verified. But Fender wouldn't give me a Jaguar logo for a Musicmaster anyway...
I went with one that is semi ok, you all would be able to tell is not the real deal, and that is the plan. Not that this guitar will ever be sold
More alignment, and snap....
The rout for the top switches is too small
Need to rout this...
Glazier points.
